Walking near my Madrid studio, crossing a building under construction, I found one of the iron structures used as bases to place metal tubes for signage and boundary fences that characterize these spaces The openings and suggestive shapes of these bases, with their unique geometries, led me to imagine upright forms that connected with the idea of a vertical city, of very tall buildings, as well as monolithic and totemic forms from a distant and futuristic culture. As a result, the paintings and sculptures that have emerged from this exercise in urban associations and encounters delve into the idea of architecture and the traditional objet trouvé. I like to think that these works could be equated to a musical theme with variations, as they constantly introduce chromatic or geometric differences that remain faithful to a common goal.
