Fragile Project

Fragile Project

Glass, magnets, plexiglass, wood

1532 x 704 x 125 cm

Fragile Project (Santander), 2014, recreates, using thin sheets of glass held together by magnets, a large port city with its geography, ships and cranes. This type of work, which the artist has been developing since 2010, refers to the fragility of the city and certain areas of exploitation of its economic or political potential. Garaicoa did a similar project for Cockatoo Island during the 2013 Biennale of Sydney. Another work where he uses the same materials is Wer im Glashaus sitzt…. (If you have a glass house…, 2013) in which he reproduced the Haus der Kunst museum in Munich, where the famous exhibition of degenerate art took place during fascism.
