End of silenceis a series of large format tapestries that show the names of stores and businesses in Havana in the 40’s and 50’s, in which I have intervened, adding my own text or poetic commentary to this photographically documented reality. We are in the presence of a poetic drift, existential if you will. It is my vision of the city where I was born and raised. Works such as La General (La general tristeza negará placeres), El Volcán (El volcán estallará, ilusionados esperamos) or El Pensamiento, with the simple shadow that reveals the presence of the passer-by, transmit my feelings towards the city and my fellow citizens.
He proposes the idea of theflâneur baudeleriano, but this would be a passerby never distant and usually positioned in a critical voice of the city itself. It is the gaze of an urbanite who tries to make that urbanity attract attention and tell us about its contradictions and dilemmas (Carlos Garaicoa)
