Entre espinas… draws from that duality present in almost all my work, where fragility and contained violence in the contemporary City are “portrayed” while simultaneously unfolding into their opposite. Like a bramble that blocks the way and imposes contemplation and respect, the city becomes inaccessible to some. It continuously wounds you, but it also nourishes and challenges you. Its branches are grafts of various species or “races” that merge into a whole, strengthening one another. In short, they are a portrait of the daily life of the urban dweller and a manifestation of the beauty in the moment that anticipates the blossoming of a city and its imposition over nature. The absurdity and tension inherent in the artificial creation of man, and nature, which dictates its own rhythm and raises its defenses. A city that grows uncontrollably, and like grass or a tree vine, asserts its own will.
Artifice versus Nature. Freedom versus Reason. The organic imposing itself over the cold and elaborate lines of human nature.
