These walls have marked political borders throughout history, sometimes reinforcing the natural boundary, such as the Havana seawall that marks the coast, that natural border that many Cubans have tried to cross to the United States.
By citing these infamous walls, I judge the existence of these geopolitical boundaries that restrict what used to be a natural flow and limit freedom of movement. They function as an obvious or tacit form of incarceration, a territorial life sentence for a wide range of the population. (Carlos Garaicoa)
