Lo viejo y lo nuevo is an installation that departed from finding an old XIX century French etching portfolio in Havana. The portfolio depicted many gardens structures, such as gazebos and animal shelters. I decided to intervene those images but cutting them using a technique similar to the one used in my pop-up books works and then added contemporary structures in black cardboard. For this, my first solo show in Munich, I also wanted to contextualize this installation and added some local etchings of the same period, depicting churches, theaters and villages in Munich. In these cases, I’d also suggest new possibilities of sculpture and architecture for the old buildings.
