Chrystallography Crystallography arises from found objects: some pieces of cardboard, wood and iron, which the artist bought in an antique store in Munich. They are very old models (Austria, ca. 1900), which were used in teaching to exemplify the formation of crystals. Garaicoa places them on a plinth designed specifically in each case, and uses them as a starting point, turning them into a kind of hanger from which hang elements of wood and glass. Somehow, these sculptures have become a point of convergence of several of his most recent works, the recreations of cities in glass of the Fragile Project series, Fragile Project, the phytomorphic elucubrations of Fragile Garden and, on the other hand, , the wood paintings ,of the π=3,1416 series, which have come together in this group of sculptures to, once again, express their interest in contemporary architecture and layout as a central axis from a perspective that highlights the contrasts between design and architecture, abstract and figurative art, planes of color and transparencies, or the solidity and fragility of the materials that come to remind us of our modus vivendi.
