And Jesus said to Lazarus… is the model of a public square project and a video shown on the wall. It consists of an equestrian sculpture of a headless national hero and a structure, a sort of ramp that children can use to place the heads of contemporary presidents on the statue. The idea for this project came when I filmed an equestrian sculpture of General Franco in Spain. At the time it was perhaps the only existing statue of the former dictator, and it was as if the image had been frozen for decades. The profile of this sculpture that appears in the video was altered to make Franco an anonymous but terrible dictator, and functions as a backdrop for the model.
