And after, what will we do?
And after, what will we do?
Wood and crystal resin
Variable dimensions
And after, what will we do?reflects on the relationship between the traditional and the contemporary, the idea of the passage of time and how the contemporary world consumes, destroys and changes certain traditions and construction processes to turn them into a world that is self-consuming, while creating new patterns of behaviour and existence. This is the case of these termites, animals that consume and destroy all the wood with which our cities were traditionally built, to turn them into a world of vertical towers. Many other metaphors may be at play behind this work, but one very essential one has to do with the violence that we humans inflict on the environment with our contemporary lifestyle. These modest, simple and apparently harmless animals are capable of bringing down any wooden building, however strong it may be, while at the same time carrying a new aesthetic model. At the same time as they consume, they are capable of building a new city around them.
