About those tireless Atlanteans who day by day sustain our present, 1994-1995
Diptych. Ink drawing on architect’s paper (150 x 215 cm), color photograph (50 x 60 cm).
The Farber Collection, NY, USA
These works show some of the first photographs taken in Havana in the early nineties. My diptychs of drawings and photographs from this period are based on the documentation of reality (photography) complemented by my own proposal and interpretation of architecture (drawing). This simple scheme has been the core of my work methodology since the beginning and development of my career. The duality between fiction/reality, documentation/drawing, past/present, are constants that have been defining my work. (Carlos Garaicoa)
